FHM editor says Veena’s nude shoot authentic

Neck-deep is controversy, Actress Veena Malik Friday emphatically denied laying herself bare for an Indian magazine as well as sporting an acronym reading ‘ISI’ tattooed on her arm, while the magazine editor insists the shoot was for real, Geo News reported.

The December issue of FHM India flashed Veena in the buff on its cover, which triggering an outrage in Pakistan – both for her nudity and the reference to country’s intelligence agency.

Following the controversy Veena voiced a negation of her posing for the FHM, categorically saying the picture was ‘morphed’.

‘I have never posed nude. I have never done anything like that ever. My manager and legal team are looking into the matter. We will take legal action against them,’ Veena told media.

On the other hand vowing to prove the photo’s authenticity FHM India’s editor, Kabeer Sharma, told Geo News said that they had not photoshopped or morphed her image adding it was for real.

“No one can hold anything against the FHM as the girl on the cover page was Veena Malikz and she can’t deny it”, said Sharma.

“We have video footage of the shoot as well as emails from Veena about how she’s looking forward to the cover,” Kabeer said.

“We have nothing to do with this controversy”, added he.
He said to us it was a workaday shoot –business as usual.

Replying to a question, he said the ISI tattoo idea was mine but it was Veena who pressed us to make it look like as it appeared on the cover.
He said that the image was intended to be playful, saying that: “In India we joke about this… if anything goes wrong… we say the ISI must be behind this.”

US senate ties strings to Pakistan military aid

The US Senate voted to tie strings to military aid to Pakistan and stem the spread of shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles from Libya as they advanced a massive annual defense spending bill.

The White House has threatened to veto the $662 billion measure over tough new rules requiring military detention of terrorism suspects and affirming that US citizens who join extremist groups may be detained forever without trial.

The Pentagon-funding bill was due to clear the Senate by week's end, touching off negotiations with the House of Representatives to resolve differences between both chambers' versions and send a compromise to President Barack Obama.

The Defense Authorization legislation was seen as a sure bet for passage because it affects US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and lawmakers hoped to make it the vehicle for tough new economic sanctions Economic sanctions are economic penalties applied by one country (or group of countries) on another for a variety of reasons. Economic sanctions include, but are not limited to, tariffs, trade barriers, import duties, and import or export quotas.

Pakistan will send a negative message by boycotting Bonn Conference....Kerry

US Senator John Kerry said on Thursday that Pakistan will send a negative message by not attending the Bonn Conference.

“Pakistan will send a message that they are not serious about stability in the region by not attending the conference” Kerry said.

Speaking on the Nato attack in which 24 Pakistani soldiers were killed, Kerry said the situation was very serious and Pak-US relations were facing a large challenge.

Parliament to decide on Bonn conference stance

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in an interview with state television said that Parliament would decide if Pakistan would be attending the Bonn Conference.

Gilani said that a joint session of Parliament had been called following the Nato attack.

“I will brief the parliamentary committee on matters of national security” Gilani added.

Speaking on the memogate issue, Gilani said Parliament was taken into confidence over this.

Govt hikes prices of petroleum products

Government on Wednesday revised upward the prices of petroleum products which will be effective from 12:00 AM, December 1, Geo News reported.

The Ministry of Petroleum gave a go ahead to the POL price hike under which the price of petrol has been increased by 48 paisa per litre to Rs87.89.

The rate of diesel has been ratcheted up by Rs4.66 per litre to Rs98.81 while the price of Light diesel raised by Rs4.79 a litre to Rs86.78.

The rate of Kerosene oil has been fixed at Rs89.24 per litre.

Earlier, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had proposed no change in the prices of petroleum products, sources said.

The decision of Pakistan Government has come as a shock to many given the fact that government in the neighboring country recently slashed POL prices to provide relief to the masses. According to Indian media, the price of petrol was cut down by 78 paisa across the country.

Russia also likely to cut Nato supply line

After Pakistan, it is now Russia which seems inclined to go tough against Nato supplies, Geo News reported Wednesday.

Pakistan adopted a tough stance and cut Nato supply line after a Nato strike in Mohmand Agency which killed its 24 military officials and troops.

Russian ambassador to Nato, Dmitry Rogozin has issued a warning to the US that it would be forced to block the Nato supply line if it failed to address Russia's concerns over US program to install missile defence shields in Europe.

Obama not to offer formal apology to Pakistan

President Obama will not offer formal condolences to Pakistan over the death of more than dozen soldiers in NATO air strikes last week, New York Times report stated.

The report stated that the White House has decided that President Obama will not offer formal condolences — at least for now —overruling State Department officials who argued for such a show of remorse to help salvage America’s relationship with Pakistan, the paper quoted administration officials.
